The progression of heart disease is shown in 3 stages, each with an anatomical image of the surface or cross-section of the heart, a cross-section of an artery and a cross-section of heart wall.
The stages show how a narrowed artery leads to ischemia; a blocked artery leads to a myocardial infarction (heart attack) and shows the recovery period with collateral blood supply.
This anatomical chart also shows heart disease in hypertension which can lead to hyprertrophy and dilation of the left ventricle. Shows and describes congestive heart failure, mitral valve prolapse and the effects of aging on the heart.
